Benromach Triple Distilled Tasting Notes
Benromach Distillery
We've probably said it before, we're big fans of Benromach distillery. Great whisky made in the traditional way and always competitively priced. Established in 1898 and located on the outskirts of the town of Forres, the distillery has been owned by independent whisky bottlers Gordon & MacPhail since 1993. Up until 1993, the distillery has been mothballed for a decade, but since has been slowly growing, and over the years the distillery has continued to expand the range within their core offering as well as releasing the odd rare & limited release, such as this stunning 41 year old release, from 1974. Launched September 2017, 'Triple Distilled' is the latest release from Benromach distillery. As you might have already guessed, the spirit, which was distilled in 2009 has been Triple distilled. First in a wash still then twice in a spirit still, it was then transferred and matured in first fill bourbon barrels until 2017, bottled at an impressive 50% vol.
