Islay Festival - Caol Ila Feis Ile 2012, Single Cask 300897

After arriving late for this year's Feis Ile, I was still trying to catch up on some of the new drams released. So I decided to head up towards Caol Ila distillery to see what I could find, I wasn't disappointed. Caol Ila have released a single cask Sherry butt for this year's Islay Festival. 300897 was filled in 2001 and bottled at cask strength 60.4% vol. Caol Ila Feis Ile 2012, Single Cask 300897 Nose: Wonderful sea air mixed with warm butter and a slight lingering of dark chocolate orange. Left for a while it opens up well, freshly cut kindling wood, shoe polish brushed onto leather. Palate: Wow, powerful really fills your mouth with warm spice, pepper and sea air. Touch of water softens the taste and brings out the peat. Finish: Wonderful, sits in your mouth for a good length of time. Delicious. Comment: This will take a lot to beat. Cracking dram, I want/need more.
