Ardbeg 1815 Abbey Whisky Tasting Notes
The nose hits you with sweet salted caramel, baked plum and a slight meaty tone - smoked ham. The medicinal notes you'd expect with an Ardbeg whisky with age, maritime notes, dried fruits along with fresh mint tea. The palate is initially quite metallic, then softens with sweet peat smoke, it's lightly salted, delicate spice, very easy on the palate. Cloves, white pepper and some dried fruit. Again, touch of smoked meat. Lot's of tingling spice on the finish, the flavours hang for a decent length - sweet smoke & salt.
