A delightful peated single cask Bunnahabhain from Alistair Walker, bottled as part of the excellent Infrequent Flyers range. This UK exclusive release is a 2013 vintage single malt Scotch whisky from Islay, matured in a 1st fill bourbon for 10 years. Staoisha is the peated whisky from Bunnahabhain distillery, only 190 bottles of this excellent whisky have been bottled at 56.6% vol.
Tasting Notes
Awards
Nose
Maritime. Smoked haddock in warm butter, really kippery. Savoury peat-smoke initially, but then slightly sweet / burnt rubber notes emerge.
Palate
Intense. Soft, sweet peat - slightly medicinal, but with some really nice fruity notes - fresh blueberries and apricots. Cracked black pepper at the close. A super-approachable, unadulterated peated Islay malt.
