Compass Box Eleuthera, a now discontinued release, is a wonderful, smoky blend of malt whiskies. Typically it combined 15 year-old malt whisky from the village of Brora, aged in re-charred hogsheads, with 12 year-old malt from the village of Port Askaig, Islay.
Eleuthera was the very first vatted malt released by Compass Box Whisky Company, and as we know, as of 22nd of November 2011 whiskies could no longer be labelled as Vatted Malts, instead they had to name as Blended Malt Whisky.
The name Eleuthera is derived from the feminine form of the Greek word ελεύθερος, its also an island in The Bahamas!
