Said to be one of the first single malts produced in Hungarian virgin oak (Quercus Petraea) this exciting new expression from Billy Walker has been released as part of the third batch in the Virgin Oak series from GlenAllachie distillery. Initially matured in American oak, ex-bourbon barrels it was then given additional maturation for around 18 months in Hungarian virgin oak casks! The casks were sourced from the Zemplén forest, located in the northeast of Hungary where the trees in this area growing very slowly giving the oak a tight grain, which is great for ageing spirit.
Tasting Notes
Awards
Nose
Bursting with butterscotch, citrus and milk chocolate, with cinnamon, raisins, orchard fruits and ginger.
Palate
Lashings of heather honey and cinnamon, followed by chocolate, lemon drops and caramelised brown sugar.
