An absolute delightful, old and rare Glen Garioch bottled by wine and spirits merchant, Berry Bros & Rudd for their Exceptional Casks series. Distilled in 1988, this rare Highland malt matured in cask #1599 for around 34 years then the cask was finally opened and filled to bottled in 2022. Bottled at natural cask strength, without colouring or chill filtration with only 202 bottles surviving the angel's share. An absolute gem of a dram.

Nose
Highland Whisky at it’s best. This rich, turfy Glen Garioch harks back to the days of the distillery’s own floor malting and direct fire stills throwing our earthy aromas of Highland peat bogs, roasted barley, dark chocolate, honey comb, leather and cigar leaf. Exceptional.
Palate
If one manages to get passed the nose, the palate gives a massive whack of herbaceous peat, resin, oak smoke, tar moving to dried fruit, cocoa powder and dates.
Finish
Spice rises on the finish giving lasting waves of smoke and turf. They don’t make whisky like this anymore, and after a dram one wonders why not?
