Usually used for Dewar's blend, it's always exciting when you see a single cask Macduff being release as the distillery produces a great single malt. This independent release was distilled in 2009 and matured in a hogshead cask for 12 years before being bottled at cask strength in 2021. Release by Wine & Spirits Merchant, Berry Bros & Rudd for the Spring Release 2022 collection.
Tasting Notes
Awards
Nose
This subtle Highlander initially offers charming aromas of malted barley and austere green fruits, as is often the way however a little time in the glass allows this whisky to open up and notes of manuka honey, lemon oil and cedar appear.
Palate
The distillate’s fruity character dominates the palate bringing orange, underripe peach, green wine gums and honeyed toast.
Finish
The finish shows waves of wood spice and a touch of vanilla.
